School Cutting A.D. Position, Will Use Teacher For Role

The North Kingstown School Committee last night voted to eliminate freshman sports, ice hockey and gymnastics from the school budget for the fiscal year that starts July 1.

However, the school department expects those programs will probably continue as a result of fund-raising.

In addition, the school department is eliminating the full-time position of athletics director. The plan is use a teacher with a reduced teaching load to fulfill the athletic director’s responsibilities.

The projected savings resulting from these moves is a combined $100,700.
