He also shares the importance of alternative workouts such as water running and stationary bike training. In Part 2, Coach Stern reviews the different distance events and offers race strategy for the runner and race strategies for coaching the distance events. In Part 3,"Building and Improving Your Team," Stern shares his experience and strategies for recruiting students, marketing and getting publicity for your program, and the importance of a coach's positive influence upon the lives of young people. Stern's plan is simple - but scientific - and has proven to be reliable over years of successful distance performances at both the high school and university level!
